Transfer Big Files

Transfer HD videoThis iPhone app is perfect for mobile movie makers working with large HD files.

Transfer Big Files currently gives users 5 GB of free space and a solution for uploading HD files wirelessly to the cloud from the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad.  It’s similar to services like Dropbox that also offer free cloud storage coupled with a free mobile app but the difference here is compression.

Transfer Big Files transfers the files in FULL Quality HD.

As a quick test, I uploaded the same video file using both dropbox and Transfer Big Files.   Despite the fact that I had the highest settings selected (using Dropbox) it compressed the file down to a rough looking 1.5MB whereas the Transfer Big Files app uploaded the full 7MB file.

This app is specifically for media, both images and videos can be transferred from the device’s media library.  Users can additionally tweak the video quality and compression; High (HD), Medium, Low and 640×480 (VGA).

The large media files you upload can be downloaded directly from the cloud, so these type of services are really helpful when you’re collaborating / sharing with others and the file size is too large to email.  This app does however come with some limitations.  Videos larger than 20MB require a WiFi connection and there is a 100MB limit per file with a free account.

Both the sign-up and the app is free. Get it! free (iTunes link)
