Remember those machines we played in arcades before all the pinball machines and Street Fighter games were turned into iOS apps? If you’ve felt the rush of banging the flippers and plungers on a real pinball machine, you know the experience just isn’t the same using the touch screen on the iPhone.
A new accessory called Pinball Magic aims to recreate the tactile arcade experience with a working mini pinball case that fits around the iPhone by connecting to the standard 30pin connector. This app-accessory designed by NewPotatoTech works in harmony with the PinBall Magic iPhone app and sports a rotating beacon light, animated LED light score board, ball launcher, flipper buttons, credit/select buttons and has folding table legs.
The game-play mimics the classic style board layouts and modes; multi-player (support up to 4 players), tilt detection, end of ball, replay bonuses and various multi-ball modes. Indeed a very cool gift/stocking stuffer for iPhone-Pinball enthusiasts.
This case supports the iPhone 4 or any iPhone or iPod touch running OS 3.0 or higher. Considering the price point of $39.99, I’m not sure if gamers would get the a lot of replay value out of the 1 game that works with this case however NewPotatoTech states that it will contain support for third party pinball apps that are on their way.
